The Flower Girl

Flower girl circus poster 2Go to school, work, retire, die. Rinse and repeat.

Year in and year out we do the same things, work in the same gray offices, live in the same gray apartments, lead the same gray lives. But inside of all of us lives a little flower girl. A little flower girl named Calla. And she has the power to transform us and show us the wonder of everything we lost along the way, ever since the day we decided that our childhood dreams deserved a proper burial.

The Flower Girl. The story of you. Of us. Of all of us. The story that helps us reconnect to that which we have lost. The story that makes us humans again. Before it's too late.

Written and directed by H. Sven Fernandez.

The Flower Girl is a bittersweet story about how we lose ourselves in the modern world, and how ultimately we can find ourselves again by remembering all those things that we have lost along the way.
From the streets of a drab city to the multi-colour world of the circus, The Flower Girl will take you on an incredible journey – a journey back to yourself and who you once were.

We will confirm your allocated slot within a few days of receiving your audition form. The last round of auditions will be held on 10 August.
AUDITON FORM
Please fill out the audition form here.
DEADLINE FOR REGISTRATION

QUERIES
Please email the producer (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) if you have any general queries or any issues with booking an audition time.
PARTICIPATION IN MULTIPLE PRODUCTIONS
It's very unlikely that you would be cast in both The Flower Girl and Hogfather due to the time commitments required. However, you may take part in both The Flower Girl and smaller productions during the autumn/winter season, such as short plays, stage readings, poetry and music events, etc.
PAYMENTS
Please note that the Finn-Brit Players is an amateur theatre company and this is not paid work but an opportunity for actors to practice their hobby. If cast, you will have to join the society to participate in the production. Annual membership (April 2022–March 2023) costs 35€ (standard) and 14.50€(concessions).

Submissions for short horror-themed plays

The Dark Secret webWe are looking for short plays to be included in a horror-themed Halloween show in cooperation with SATD.

If you are interested in proposing an original script of yours, please send Salvador and Leben your pitch (meaning they don't need to see a full script, but rather a breakdown of your concept) by 5 August. Leben and Salvador will review pitches and respond to proposals they'd like to include, and request finished scripts to be delivered by 26 August for workshopping and audition planning.

The following constraints should be kept in mind:
– The ultimate performance should be no longer than 20 minutes.
– Low-budget/low-set/low-tech/easy clean-up (ex., blood) will be the name of the game!
– You do not necessarily need to direct a script you wrote
– We're leaning into the dark, but do not lean into the pornographic.
– Horror can mean a lot of things. Psychological, supernatural, campy/comedic. Give us the parts of the genre that you love.

DIRECTORS
If you are interested in directing and not writing, e-mail Salvador and Leben as well, and we can keep you on standby as we review submissions. If a proposal is accepted that doesn't include a director, Salvador and Leben will reach out to you to gauge your interest with a particular script.

WHO DO I CONTACT?
Please reach out to Salvador Esparza (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) or Leben Norrie (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) with either your proposal pitch or your directorial interest.

ACTORS
Interested in acting? Be on the lookout for future information about auditions in September!

'Til then, stay vigilant out there. You never know what's in your closet.

Auditions for "Hogfather"

Hogfather audition imageWelcome to open auditions for Hogfather, written by Terry Pratchett and directed by Zach Chamberlaine. (Please note that you must book an audition time in order to participate.)
Hogfather is based on Terry Pratchett's popular Discworld novel of the same name.
Our story begins the night before Hogswatch, the last night of the year. Yet instead of the Hogfather, Death is creeping down chimneys with presents and trying to say "Ho Ho Ho".
The Auditors of Reality have been plotting again, and have hired the Assassin's Guild to eliminate the Hogfather in a more creative way than usual. And it's down to Susan, gothic governess and Death's granddaughter (sort of), to sort everything out by morning, otherwise there won't be a morning....
ROLES
There are 32 roles available for adults of all ages, genders and backgrounds, but there are a lot of roles for men in particular. Five actors will play one slightly larger role, whilst most people will play two–three smaller roles. Unlike many Pratchett plays, there is no ‘main character’, so stage time is more evenly distributed than usual. An almost full list of the roles is given in the audition form.
SKILLS WANTED
General acting skills, especially comedic acting. There are also some roles for beginners. The ability to do one or more different accents is an advantage for some roles. Experience with mask acting or singing would also be useful for some roles.
AVAILABILITY
You must be available for all of the final rehearsals (in the period 7–14 November) and the performances (in the period 16–30 November 2022).
You must be available for rehearsals on Monday evenings and Sunday afternoons in the period 14 August–6 November 2022. Although you will not have to attend every rehearsal, it is expected that you will have good availability for rehearsals.
Rehearsals and performances cannot be moved to accommodate actors' schedules.
HOW TO PREPARE
After registering, you will be provided with the script and some scenes to prepare. (There is no need to learn the lines by heart.) You will act out these scenes at the audition. You may also be asked to read in other parts, showcase your accent skills, or do some improvisation (with a focus on physical theatre and mask acting).
YOU MUST BOOK AN AUDITION TIME
You will be asked to choose your preferred one-hour audition slot when you fill out the audition form. However, we cannot guarantee that you will get your preferred time, and preferences will be considered on a first-come-first-served basis. We will confirm your allocated slot within a few days of receiving your audition form.
AUDITON FORM
Registration is not closed for this play.
DEADLINE FOR REGISTRATION
2 August for auditions on 3 August, and 6 August for auditions on the 7 August. If you miss the registration deadline, we cannot guarantee you an audition, although we can try to fit you in. Contact the director if you cannot attend on any of the given dates.
