Beautiful Bodies is a modern American play concerned with six 30-something women who get together in one of their flats for a baby shower. It is a sharp, witty mordant comedy of relationships where the absent men are, in a way, as important as the women on stage.

They are all aware that Claire is pregnant, but none of her five friends have spoken to her in six months. As the Aussie red wine flows, a delirious debate rages: Is it OK to have babies with someone who has already left? Will Martha, the Real Estate Agent of the Year flying blind on automatic Palm Pilot, ruin the evening by announcing, "Her phone bill is more than her income!"? Who will win, the pragmatists or the romantics? Will Sue Carol, the wacktress (hybrid of waitress and actress), return to her husband or "rebuild" her career? Did Lisbeth, the model, truly see her lost lover in the underground? Will Nina spill her secret (it involves cockroaches and shy Jewish men)?
